Bridge in Sundsval, Sweden 2

Thanks for posting that. As a teenager, I spent a school year on the outskirts of Sundsvall, but that was so long ago they were driving on the left side of the road. I can still spot a landmark or two.

What's also interesting at the north end of this job, at the Bergeforsen dam, they have carved out a major cut in bedrock as an emergency spillway contemplating a global warming deluge of excessive spring time flows.

Very nice bridge, and the planning for the fabrication, transport, and erection was impressive.

Here is a video of the end of the job, in Swedish. Click on the picture.

I'll try to post a shot of the operation (by my ham radio friend over there). He said they had to push the two completed sections some to squeeze the final section in.

Great!

I drive that E4 road a few times every year. Takes like 20 or 30 minutes go get through Sundsvall. "I wish they put a bridge here!" I used to think. OK - someone listened. For once!

Now, there is a nice bridge in Motala and this one in Sundsvall. What else could a Swede wish for?

Half full - Half empty? I don't mind. It's what in it that counts.

I wish there were more picture of the heavy structural fabrication plant. The pictures provided show an immaculate looking assembly section, however, for curiosity sake I wish that pictures of the plate cutting section, welding and fitting section and the painting area had been shown.
