How become PM: which certificate ?

How become PM: which certificate ?

How become PM: which certificate ?

(OP)
Good Morning

I'm an aerospace engineer with 2 years of experience and i'd like to study to become a PM; in my company, the managment is starting to assign me task "hard" so i thought to take a certificate in PM that can help me in my job and ( why not) give me future best opportunity. I'd like to know which certificate i can try to take in order to acquire knowledge and prove my capability in this field:
for instance i know the http://www.pmi.org is a organization that offers courses, exams and books; someone can explain me if this organization is ok or there are other certificates more suitable for the aerospace field ?
In general, i'd like to know the first steps to do.

Thank you

RE: How become PM: which certificate ?

Hi Gaetano82,
From your post, it sounds like you have a desire to learn more about pursuing a career as a Project Manager. The Project Management Institute is a great organization. They offer many certification in and around project management. However, also from your comments, it sounds as if you are just beginning to acquire experience involved with projects. Given where you are in your career, I might suggest taking a look at this article "Project Managers Maturity Model":

Hope this helps!
