Broken Enrober

Broken Enrober

Broken Enrober

I am fixing an ancient Geier enrobing machine for a friend who has a small chocolate factory in Philadelphia. The riser shaft sheared the pin of its drive gear. Now when the riser shaft is rotated, the shaft lifts up 0.5 cm and clunks back down. Any ideas?

RE: Broken Enrober

Is the shaft bent? A video please.

Good luck,

Technically, the glass is always full - 1/2 air and 1/2 water.

RE: Broken Enrober

Do you offer a years supply chocolates for a correct answer?

It is a capital mistake to theorise before one has data. Insensibly one begins to twist facts to suit theories, instead of theories to suit facts. (Sherlock Holmes - A Scandal in Bohemia.)

RE: Broken Enrober

First order of business is to find out why the pin broke.
A macro photo of the fracture surface might help.

RE: Broken Enrober

Have you tried simply replacing the broken pin? You didn't mention the suspected cause of the broken pin. A jam (no pun intended) or simply exceeded the fatigue limit due to age, or ???

It is better to have enough ideas for some of them to be wrong, than to be always right by having no ideas at all.

RE: Broken Enrober

Jest a simple question, then: If an enrober strips its pins during an extended period of operation, does the model end up not wearing anythong at the end of the dance, or wearing even more than when the motion started? 8<)
