Pressure gauge movement and bourdon tube dimensions and standards

Pressure gauge movement and bourdon tube dimensions and standards

Pressure gauge movement and bourdon tube dimensions and standards

(OP)
Hi everyone.

Are there any standards or books about pressure gauge Bourdon tubes and movements which explains criteria such as general design, dimensions, material, manufacturing procedure, heat treatments, etc.? If not, can anyone answer the following questions for me?

* Is the mechanism and dimension of movements standardized or are they manufacturer-specific?
* Are there different types of movement or do they use a single type of movement for all pressure ranges and dial sizes? If they are different, what parameters does it depend on?
* Do Bourdon tube dimensions depend on pressure range only or on dial size too? Where can I find these dimensions?
* Any tips, references, etc. on manufacturing procedure of Bourdon tubes will be highly appreciated.

Thanks.

RE: Pressure gauge movement and bourdon tube dimensions and standards

Wika's pressure gauge handbook covers mechanical gauges (and temperature).

The designs are manufacturer specific. I doubt there's a book on gauge manufacturing.

The following standards might help:
  • EN 472 : Pressure gauge - Vocabulary.
  • EN 837-1 : Pressure gauges. Bourdon tube pressure gauges. Dimensions, metrology, requirements and testing.
  • EN 837-2 : Pressure gauges. Selection and installation recommendations for pressure gauges.
  • EN 837-3 : Pressure gauges. Diaphragm and capsule pressure gauges. Dimensions, metrology, requirements, and testing.
