facebook drive me nuts

facebook drive me nuts

(OP)
people post stuff like this:
"Patients is so important, when we force things they break and impatients make for impulses. Calm down and let thy will be down, not your will. Have a great day and breath. The only pressure on your back and the pressure you put there."
and then get offended if you critique it!

RE: facebook drive me nuts

Shouldn't that be...
Facebook drives me nuts!
and
People post...

lol

RE: facebook drive me nuts

(OP)
I suppose it should, but it is hard to do eng-tips on a phone...

RE: facebook drive me nuts

Depends on the phone, I don't have any problem whatsoever.

It is a capital mistake to theorise before one has data. Insensibly one begins to twist facts to suit theories, instead of theories to suit facts. (Sherlock Holmes - A Scandal in Bohemia.)

RE: facebook drive me nuts

I love to read the didn't-pay-attention-in-grammar-school posts on Facebook. It eases the pain of reading reports from fresh college graduates. I can critique the newbie engineers and other folks at work with a lesser degree of sarcasm.

Artisi, it depends not just on the phone but the guy or gal punching at it. I'm a big fella, including fingertips. I gave up on touch-screen stuff a long time ago (along with cars that don't have fluffy, soft ceiling liners).

Best to you,

Goober Dave

DRWeig, use the predictive text function, if it is available smile

RE: facebook drive me nuts

I have started giving more latitude to forum posts that I read, because I have noticed that when I go on some forums using my iPad, if I write a post and submit it, the words that the high lord Apple posts are sometimes not the ones that I typed.

RE: facebook drive me nuts

(OP)
hence the existence of damnyouautocorrect.com

but I doubt the post I quoted contained many unintentional word selections... even correcting for all likely autocorrects I still feel there is room to mock:

"Patients is so important, when we force things they break and impatients make for impulses. Calm down and let thy will be done, not your will. Have a great day and breathe. The only pressure on your back is the pressure you put there."

In particular...what important distinction between "thy" and "your" is this person trying to make?

RE: facebook drive me nuts

I've never had a problem with Facebook posts. I've never seen one. Problem solved.

RE: facebook drive me nuts

ivymike,

I have having fun reading damnyouautocorrect.com. Do you think these things are real? The Applebee's one (first click) implies that some programmer assumed that anyone typing "burger" really means "booger".

Do you care? smile

Those of us who have to mess with the US Green Building Council on LEED projects have enjoyed what the Microsoft spell checker does to USGBC.

RE: facebook drive me nuts

Mine doesn't do anything to USGBC. ponder

RE: facebook drive me nuts

dgallup, you may have a later update of the spelling dictionary. This one caused a blow-coffee-out-my-nose experience.

"Add to dictionary" really isn't that difficult to use now is it?

But why give up an occasional grin?
