One can note that all Norwegian built FPSOs have forward-mounted accommodation units, whilst UK built FPSOs have a mix of both forward and stern mounted accommodation units. Why is this so? Is there a specific reason for Norwegian fpsos to be built in this manner? (perhaps legislative reason)
Thanks in advance.

Fire and smoke don't get blown toward and into the accommodations.

Independent events are seldomly independent.

I agree BigInch. But why do all Norwegian FPSOs have bow mounted acc. whilst the British FPSO are a mixture of approx. 40% stern and 60% fwd mounted acc. ? Is there a norwegian regulation which enforces this?

Thanks for your fast reply.

RE: Difference between UK & Norwegian FPSOs

I'm not familiar with FPSO design regs.
In fact I'm already in over my head.
But ... I did find some stuff ... Section 2.7 here,

Section 2.3 here is very interesting,

Maybe some more clues here. No time to look more.
