subject-verb agreement?

subject-verb agreement?

subject-verb agreement?

(OP)
More than likely there are dozens of threads that speak to subject-verb agreement. Here's today's example: "At least three of the projects shall be sites with similar ground conditions."

I'd type the whole paragraph to put this into context, but it's about contractor's experiences in installing drilled shafts.

A PROJECT CANNOT BE A SITE! I'd think the proper statement would be, "At least three of the projects shall be located within sites with similar ground conditions."

End of rant. . .

RE: subject-verb agreement?

"shall be ON sites.." seems good enough.

RE: subject-verb agreement?

I don't really see the problem.
Is anyone going to be confused by the original statement? Does adding additional words really make it clearer?

. . . but this is not the "social interaction" forum. IT'S THE ENGINEERING LANGUAGE/GRAMMER SKILLS FORUM.

I'll try to find a better example next time, sigh. . .

Grammar. :)

RE: subject-verb agreement?

To be fair it depends upon what mood you find me in as to whether I worry that people don't know that it is "10 items or fewer" not "10 items or less", or I just don't mind so long as people understand the meaning.
Situations where it DOES make a real difference however and I'm right there with you. (Just don't get me started on people who write as though they are sending a text.)
I was having a more mellow day yesterday.

Ha! I just ate a healthy bacon double cheeseburger. It wasn't very healthful though. . .

I've just given up when "healthy" is used incorrectly and "healthful" is rarely used (i.e., when it should be used). One's right though and one's wrong.

Yay me! I know the difference!

When did wellness become a word? Can't seem to get away from it these days. We are supposed to fill out a wellness questionnaire and then somebody I've never met who probably lives on a different continent is going to evaluate me and shove some wellness down my throat. Unless Mrs. Obama beats them to it.
