I'm currently doing FEA simulation on the dentability of bake hardened steel as compared to conventional steel for Tailgate Outer Panel. Is there anybody who have experience in doing this test (REAL TEST or Simulation)? Care to tell me how the test is done? Secondly i will need some help to differentiate the propeties (density, youngs modulus and poisson ratio) of conventional steel (general sheet metal-steel for automotive stamping parts) and this so called bake hardening steel.

I have heard of tests where a ball of known mass is dropped on to a standard size panel at a pre-determined height. The dent depth gives a measure of the dentability of the steel. The dentability is more a function of the steel yield stress than the other properties you mention, as yield stress increases 30 to 50MPa after forming and bake hardening the part.
