Static simulation setup - question
Static simulation setup - question
(OP)
I am setting up a static analysis simulation in solidworks. A load is applied vertically down (due to gravity, -y) onto two beams 24 inches apart with the load accepting face(s) of the beams oriented 30 degrees from horizontal (x). My question is regarding the solver for solidworks and how it would look at this problem. Knowing that a load applied to a face 30 degrees from perpendicular, results in force vectors both in x and normal to the load accepting surface. Can I apply the load vertically down (pure -y), or do I need to resolve the force vectors and apply them individually?
Thanks
Thanks
RE: Static simulation setup - question
Are you using body loads to simulate gravity?

I would not assume body loads are applied unless I turned them on. Are you saying there are other loads in addition to gravity loads?
