# weight measure

## weight measure

(OP)
Is any one familiar with a measurement term "ounce inches", typically used to moment weight engine compressor blades. If so, does it readily convert, mathematically to any other weight measure, such as grams?

### RE: weight measure

A torque of 1 oz.in = 72.007789 g.cm

### RE: weight measure

In this context, it should be referring to the imbalance torque and should correspond to the moment difference across the axis of symmetry.  Since it's not a weight, it cannot be converted to a weight, although you can certainly convert to SI units as indicated above.

### RE: weight measure

Oz-in is a method to indicate the amount of out-of-balance.  It is equivalent to a mass at a given radius.  To convert it to a force, multiply by the RPM squared (use radians / sec, not RPM).  That gives the units oz-in/sec^2.  This can be converted to other units as required.
