Frying Pan

Frying Pan

(OP)
Is this the same as a blank with flange pattern holes & a handle? One would put it between two flanges.

Air, water, for testing in general.
Frying pan for the handle I think.

RE: Frying Pan

The problem with using colloquialisms and jargon without any context, instead of concise and unambiguous terms, is that quite often people have no idea what you are talking about.

Thanks everyone the replies....colloquialisms can be a problem...I agree....

but do they weight the say?

lmao @ steam

RE: Frying Pan

how do you determine the weight of steam, it must be weightless as my bathroom scales does not register anything when I boil water under it.

RE: Frying Pan

tinsmith04090,

Where I work, somebody designed an electronic device they called a roach motel.  I hope this never got shipped to a customer.

Perhaps the people where you are need a little more discipline when it comes to device naming.

I thought a roach motel was a holy refrigerator.

Why would you assume I named it anything drawoh

   I'm not.

A frying pan is what I use to cook bacon and eggs.  I have never seen a frying panel with flange pattern holes, and I cannot imagine bolting it to the stove.

A very long time ago, I complained to an engineer about sloppy terminology, and he told me about searching through a plant for a resin dewaterer.  All he got was blank stares when he asked about it.  It turned out everyone called it a bird bath.

You are describing something called, by someone, a frying pan, that appears to be something else.  Actually, if it was you who named it a frying pan, you would know what it really was, and you would not have posted.

Sometimes, you need to develop the habit of staring blankly and stupidly at people when they use silly nicknames for stuff that you and your co-workers need to understand.

RE: Frying Pan

A paddle blind wouldn't even make a very good frying pan.  No lip to contain the drippings.

It is better to have enough ideas for some of them to be wrong, than to be always right by having no ideas at all.

RE: Frying Pan

Frying Pan & Paddle Blind are the same.....thanks to some that paid attention.

RE: Frying Pan

Actually, I think people were gently pointing out that a paddle blind and a frying pan MAY be the same thing, or sometimes they may not.

A flat or "lipless" frying pan is a comal, used for heating up tortillas.

RE: Frying Pan

casseopeia,

Comal is also a structured language developed at Waterloo University for eight bit Commodore computers.  I have a book at home somewhere on it.

RE: Frying Pan

Absolutely right Cass!  So a lipless frying pan would serve some purpose after all. And lefse and knekkebrod, me being Norwegian, that one also did not dawn on me until right this moment, although lefse is best done on a big flat-top.

RE: Frying Pan

One man's frying pan is another's spectacle plate?

RE: Frying Pan

A lipless frying pan is a griddle

RE: Frying Pan

Well I'd guess at its being an unfinished orifice plate or a blanking plate.
These are sometimes used as to stop flow or are supplied blank for the orifice to be machined later.
This one is drilled and locates within the bolt circle.
Line spade and spacer?
Here is a blank without the bolt circle:

These are drilled and include the bolt circle:

RE: Frying Pan

This is making me really hungry.  As long as we are talking frying pans and colanders, can we talk pork chops?

RE: Frying Pan

I have heard them called blind flanges
when the hole is drilled for flow measurement
it is then it becomes a spectacle flange.
