How to calculate heat transfer from a solar energy?

(OP)
hi!i will be having a presentantion based on thermodynamics.I need to know if there's any suggestion in which case studies should i present ?I think it is better to present about heat transfers from any solar systems but i don't have enough information.I want also the equations for the heat transfer.and finally,how to calculate heat transfer from a solar energy?Is there any formula?Should i calculate it using the heat engines equation?

RE: How to calculate heat transfer from a solar energy?

There's roughly 1120 watts/m^2 of solar energy hitting the upper atmosphere.

IRstuff is right the solar heat radiation at the ground is nearly 1000 W/m^2. For more information visit the German website http://www.solarkonstante.de/sonne getting a fine overwiew of the radiation spectrum of the sun and a top-50 solar-energy-link-site.

@ybjack

We are talking about technical data here (Tables and so on). An English data-table is like a German - perhaps the units will be different. If there are problems to understand, You should download a free German-English (D->E) and English-German (E->D) wordbook (QuickDic 5.2) at

http://www.rzbd.haw-hamburg.de/ftp/sonstiges.shtml

(University of Hamburg-Bergedorf) to look for the main expressions.
