Circular/Cylinder Constraint
Circular/Cylinder Constraint
(OP)
Hello Inventor Pros,
I have been using Inventor for a while now for robotic designs and the like.
Recently, a part of a design I am looking into requires first a preliminary basic conceptual CAD model in assembly form. This is usually done just for preliminary motion verification.
However, I have come across an issue that I haven't before with other designs. This is how to create an assembly constraint that like that of a cylindrical constraint (2 degrees of freedom, one translation and one rotation) but with the joints being circular.
It seems that Inventor has no easy means of mating these kinds of parts?
For clarity basic geometries of the 2 parts in the assembly I am trying to mate are attached.
Does anyone know a solution to this?
Thanks,

I evolved the design to something better .

FWIW - you could have created points at the centerline of the leg's bearing end faces, then mated the points to the centerline of the ring...

Thanks, that does seem to work fine. I tried it regardless of the design change .
