Hello folks, I have a shaft with impeller on one end, I need to show this impeller rotating continuously using the animation tools but when I tried this the impellers stops and starts momentarily after one full rotation ? while i'm here, does anyone out there know of any publications that specialise in Inventor animations?
(Inventor suite 2012)

Many thanks in advance

RE: Animations

Search Google for Bill Bogan Inventor Studio Tutorials.
There are several ways to do what you describe - personally I would use a angle constraint and animate constraint.

RE: Animations

You might be seeing a difference in the ramp up and ramp down time in the velocity profile of the animation tool you are using.

I am assuming you are using Inventor Studio for this and not just the Drive Constraint command yes?

RE: Animations

Inventor suite 2012 comes with 3DS Max, if you are going to learn an app why not learn one that produces good animations?

Thank you all for your valued input, I will be buying a 3DS Max tutorial ASAP, but do you think Mudbox will also do this? If so where do I find tutorials for this software? Tried the net but cannot find anything.

Many thanks

RE: Animations

Mudbox will not be used for this, in fact I think 3Ds Max may be overkill for it too, just depends on how stellar you want the animation to look and for what purpose.

If you want to know more about Inventor Studio animations check out my AU class from Autodesk University 2008 on it.

Thanks for that mflayler, the animation is intended to be used on a website, marketing etc, so better the quality I guess. Meanwhile I'll be checking out your AU and get some ideas pronto.

Cheers :)

RE: Animations

Check out youtube for 3DS max tutorials. You might find the learning curve out weighs the quality improvement but see how you go.
