Does anyone have an example or have designed a solar powered traffic signal? If so, can you send pics or PDF of the design? We are considering one here in So Cal, and I'm having a hard time finding information on the equipment needed.

Thanks.

It is possible and has been done, although I've only seen temporary traffic signals for traffic management run this way. The devil seems to be in the number of batteries you have as back-up/on trickle charge, and the sizing of the panel(s). The calculations I've come across seem to suggest very high figures for 'loss' through the system. In addition, LEDs would seem the best option for the lights themselves due to the low voltage required.
