Just a word of warning really.

I have recently become a victim of someone trying to open various accounts in my name and as such have been referred to the UK's fraud prevention service. This came as a big surprise to me as I am very careful with personal details, banking details, credit cards etc.

It seems I have not actually done anything wrong and there is a spate of people using the information about company directors that is freely available from company's house etc and the bits they don't know they just guess at and work on the numbers game.

I fully understand that it is better to be investigated than have nothing in place and people clearing out your accounts but it is a right royal pain in the rear as many transactions are seen as dubious and day to day business transactions become a real chore.

As I said really just a word of warning to be extra careful and even signing up to one of those companies that monitors your credit rating and loans, banks etc you have applied to. It really is not very pleasant when it is too late.
