NMEA 0183 description

I need data on NMEA 0183 to see if my Garmin GPSMAP 210 can transfer all of my Routes (containing waypoints etc.) to my newer GPSMAP 215. For certain two 215's can communicate but can I load the data from the 210 into the 215 using the NMEA in and out outputs from each? The 210 has no menu option to send route data while the 215 does.

I've done several searches on NMEA 0183 and drew only a passing mention of the characteristic but nothing more.

Please disregard my post. I must have been having a senior moment when I searched for NMEA 0183 on the web before. I tried again and found plenty of reliable information.
