Pseudo-static vs. pseudo-dynamic
Pseudo-static vs. pseudo-dynamic
(OP)
Pseudo-static vs. pseudo-dynamic. Which one is the correct usage?
To me "pseudo" means not actually, but having the appearance of, i.e., pretending, mimicking. So a pseudo-static model would actually be a dynamic model that mimics a static system. Shouldn't the appropriate term be a "pseudo-dynamic" model? A static model that mimics a dynamic system (like an earth quake).

RE: Pseudo-static vs. pseudo-dynamic
While it seems semantically bass ackward, the term pseudostatic is well established in use and we are pretty much stuck with it. At least it's better than "elastic silt."

Alas, like dgillette says we're stuck with the error and the purists of logic must put up with it and suffer in silence.
