I have a vertical 12 mts slope on schist, and i wonder if the roots will increase the chance of colapse or they will help to prevent it, if the answer is help which type of plants? Where can I find some information?

I think that the roots will grow and expand and this may induce movements, on the other hand the roots may increase the shear strength of the soils they go through.
Thanks
