ASTM A312 Stainless Steel Piping Spec Question

ASTM A312 Stainless Steel Piping Spec Question

ASTM A312 Stainless Steel Piping Spec Question

(OP)
Looking at an older version of ASTM A312 it doesn't show 22" pipe with wall thicknesses heavier than 0.218".  My application is going to use 0.500" wall thickness and I was trying to determine the Schedule required.  Right now I'm just calling up vendors to ask if they manufacture pipe with this heavy wall and so far no luck.  Any thoughts greatly appreciated.  Thanks.

Use 24"?

RE: ASTM A312 Stainless Steel Piping Spec Question

For NPS,

22" OD    wall 0.500"  XS Sch 30
24" OD    wall 0.500"  XS
          wall 0.562"  Sch 30

RE: ASTM A312 Stainless Steel Piping Spec Question

Are you sure you want 22" with wall thickness of 0,5" acc. ASTM A 312.
Acc. A 312 you have to weld the pipes WITHOUT addition of filler metal, wich is nearly impossible for such great wall thickness. Maybe you should change your inquiry to A 358 with wall tolerances acc. A 312 or to A 312 with addition of filler metal then you will find someone who can suplly these pipes for sure!

RE: ASTM A312 Stainless Steel Piping Spec Question

Careful Andre, there is no such thing as A312 with filler.  Putting that on an MTR would be a lie.
They weld 0.5" without filler all of the time.  The heaviest that we have done is 0.875".
The reason that people use A312 is that then you don't have to worry about the filler composition

Another possible source for this pipe: http://www.brismet.com/
.500 wall is common place for these folks.

24" is a much more common size, you will see will more availability.
