How to make an editable stamp

How to make an editable stamp

How to make an editable stamp

(OP)
Hi,
I'm a structural engineer with a computer question.
I'm attempting to create a custom stamp in adobe.  I have no problem creating the stamp.  What I want to do is to be able to apply the stamp to a document, then edit the fields after it is on the document.
Is this possible?

No, even dynamic stamps simply pull data at the time they are placed and cannot be edited.

There has to be a way, right?  It's such a pain to have to make a new stamp for every day or submission number.  What a PAIN!!!

RE: How to make an editable stamp

What exactly are you trying to do? Why not just use a text field form or something

I want to create a shop drawing stamp with the editable fields being "date", "reviewed by", and "submission".  I don't want to have to create 10 differents stamps every day and keep track of which one I'm using.  I'd like to create a single stamp and be able to edit the fields.
If you make a text field, you have to manipulate its size to make it fit right and it just gets to be a pain.

RE: How to make an editable stamp

If thats all you want a dynamic stamp (that is already built and included with Acrobat) should work just fine. Look at the "Reviewed" dynamic stamp.. You can't edit it like you want but it will automatically put the date and reviewers name automatically when the stamp is placed. Not sure what "submission" is supposed to be though.

I do want a dynamic stamp, but I need to input certain fields, I can't just feed a number into it.  Additionally, I have my own stamp.  I don't want my name and date all in one line like they have it.
I think I have it figured out.  You can write script into the form field boxes.  Does anyone know how to write java code to get it to ask for an input and then spit the input out?  It should be pretty easy for anyone who knows anything about java.  Unfortunately, I know nothing about that code.  I took a C++ course in college, but that's obviously not java.
