I believe the API tank inspection standard gives guidelines regarding the accepability of pitting corrosion depending on the extent/ depth etc. Is there a similar standard or guide that anyone is aware of for external/ internal pitting corrosion of piping?
Thankyou.

RE: Pitting corrosion acceptability guidelines

Hello seanmc,
For defects in pipework (including corrosion) refer to API 579. There are sections within this relatively new standard which cover most types of defects. Another source for defect assessment is BS 7910. Also ASME B31G addresses corrosion of piping however API 579 is a more thorough assessment.
