Hello,

I am in the process of sizing a motor and fan for a wind tunnel. I would like to approximate the power requirements of the motor such that I am able to obtain a certain flow velocity of the air. (I need about 20m/s)
Would a simple energy analysis of the control volume of air around the tunnel suffice? This would neglect the losses in the diffuser and nozzle. Is there need to worry about the swirl that the fan creates?
Does anyone have experience with this?
Thanks in advance.
