Fatigue Curves or S/N Curves
Fatigue Curves or S/N Curves
(OP)
Does anyone know where I can get any fatigue or S/N curves???
Books, websites etc....
I would ideally like to find curves rather than the data as I finding that usually a limited number of samples have been taken to aquire the data, whereas curves are formed from lots of samples not just a couple of dozen samples.
In particular aluminium alloys and stainless steel curves would be more useful-but any fatigue curve for any material would be grateful.
Many thanks in advance
Steve

ASM International, a materials-oriented professional society, is the best source of this type of data. I would recommend you investigate the following publications that they offer:
ASM HANDBOOK Volume 19: Fatigue and Fracture
Atlas of Fatigue Curves
Properties of Aluminum Alloys: Tensile, Creep, and Fatigue Data at High and Low Temperatures
Fatigue Data Book: Light Structural Alloys
You can find out more (pricing, availability, etc.) at their website: www.asminternational.com
A good source of fatigue data is the U.S. Government, specifically the military. MIL-HDBK-5H, Metallic Materials and Elements for Aerospace Vehicle Structures, has a lot of fatigue data. It is available for free at the following website:
http://astimage.daps.dla.mil/quicksearch/
Note: this is an absolutely HUGE file (> 42 MB), so it takes forever to download. You should only attempt this if you have a T1 line or a cable modem, and a very robust connection.
Another military publication is the Aerospace Structural Metals Handbook, which is published by the U.S. Air Force.
Some or all of these publications would be available at a major university library, so I would recommend a trip if you don't want to pay a lot for this info. I doubt you will find much fatigue data on any of the internet. Best of luck to you.

Thanks for the info. Since I already have the document this doesn't help me, but I'm sure it will be of benefit to Steve and others.

MIL-HDBK-5 is also available at this site, broken down by chapter, reducing download time.
