Interesting Web Site for Spelling / Pronunciation

(OP)
Was going to post this in the thread on pronunciation, but that's gotten so far off track, I hate to even consider it.

I've been spending a lot of time at http://www.freerice.com.  Interesting website with a gimmick.  I find it rather addicting.  Have to admit my vocabulary has improved, though when and where I'll ever use some of these words, I have no idea.  They also have a pronunciation cue; it does seem to be slanted to American pronunctiation.

RE: Interesting Web Site for Spelling / Pronunciation

I really don't see that site particularly helping your vocabulary to increase.  Most of those words aren't exactly synonymous with their 1-3 word definitions.  The nuances, shades of meaning, and usual contexts of certain words just can't be captured in such a small definition.  Use one incorrectly and you just look silly rather than educated.
