RESISTOR TYPE FOR INDUCTIVE CIRCUIT
RESISTOR TYPE FOR INDUCTIVE CIRCUIT

I HAVE HEARD THAT A WIRE WOUND RESISTOR IS BEST
FOR AN INDUCTIVE CIRCUIT.CARBON AND METAL FILM ARE NOT
PREFERRABLE. IS THIS TRUE AND WHY?

RE: RESISTOR TYPE FOR INDUCTIVE CIRCUIT
I don't think it is true. In my opinion opposite of this comment can be true. I mean the wirewound resistor is the worst for a non inductive circuit because of its big parasitic inductance.(if you don't want to add some serial parasitic inductance to your circuit.)
I think the main advantage of wirewound resistors is, they can handle (or dissipate) more power than the others with less volume.

John, would you compare non-inductive wirewound resistors with the other types (metal or carbon film resistors and even water resistors). Is the bifilar construction the best (by mean of parasitic inductance)?
