I need to have two Profibus DP Masters on a Profibus network. During operation only one of the masters is supposed to control the networks slaves at a time, with cyclic data transfer.

When I switch between the two nodes the slaves need to be reconfigured by the new Master, so I suppose I need a Profibus Class 2 Master. Can the Profibus Class 2 Master also be used for the cyclic data transfer?

Will this configuration work? Two Class 2 Masters and eight slaves?
