Whats my used Mitsubishi robot worth?

Whats my used Mitsubishi robot worth?

Whats my used Mitsubishi robot worth?

(OP)
Hello,
I have a low hours Mitsubishi Movemaster super RV-EN5J robot that we used to use in a robot cell for welding some time ago. It's a 6 axis 12lb capacity robot. I know we paid around 43k for it sometime around 2000. I am considering selling it on E-bay, but I have no idea what it is worth and I don't want to let it go for less than a fair price.

I'm not trying to sell it here, this is not spam. I have no idea what to ask for it, any input on what it might be worth would be appreciated.

Thanks

RE: Whats my used Mitsubishi robot worth?

While robot capital assets may get a 7 or 10 year depreciation schedule, I've come to the conclusion that the useful lifetime of a robot was about 5 years max.  The mechanics may still be OK, but the power electronics cook and degrade.  The computer controls become obsolete through new product offerings after about 3-4 years.  For example, one can find a few Staubli RX-series robots with CS7A or CS7B controllers on the auction market.  Staubli will stop supporting these items on 31dec07.  As far as I'm concerned, those robots are nothing more than scrap metal sitting in someone's warehouse now.

It all boils down to the perceived value to the purchaser.  Mitsu isn't a big player in the US market.  They may have some appeal to a hobbyist or Shop Rat for playing.
