I am designing a high density stacking chair and it is all setup in cad. My boss seems to think i can bend the first protype by hand but if im off even 1/8" then the design wont stack very well.

is there somewhere to get 2-3 chairs made with a cnc bender or have a professional do it for under 600$?

about the design:
7/16" steel rod unfinished
3 pieces to be welded together
33.71 x 22.75 x 20.19(inch) overall dimensions

This might be the boss's way of suggesting that your design is not as robust as he would like it to be.  Making it yourself would prove him wrong, and possibly improve your design skills as well.

I'd guess it's possible if you've got a good bar bender out back.  If all you've got is a rock and a bigger rock, you'll just get hurt.

aside from how the back of the seat attaches to the frame it is exactly what is out there now. machines across the nation crank out hundreds of thousands of these things a year.. its only a matter of making 2-3 of them perfectly before so that the design can get approved...

it has nothing to do with the robustness or my model shop skills.

rdgadz there are indeed a lot of shops out there.  We used to have a company in our funky little town that did that.  They bailed about 10 years ago.

I suggest you google "computerized wire bending".  The paid for ad at the top has some sort of quoting service that has chairs as an example.
