Hi Guys,

I've been retired from the oil industry for a few years and now a bit out of touch but having to revive something for a design job. Is API RP-2A WSD still in use generally ? I think the last edition was 21st.  Or is everyone using LRFD ?

Any comments/ info would be very much appreciated.

thanks.

RE: API RP-2A WSD

JWB46,
The latest edition and supp.s are:
API RECOMMENDED PRACTICE 2A-WSD (RP 2A-WSD)
TWENTY-FIRST EDITION, DECEMBER 2000
ERRATA AND SUPPLEMENT 1, DECEMBER 2002
ERRATA AND SUPPLEMENT 2, OCTOBER 2005
and
Recommended Practice for Planning, Designing and Constructing Fixed Offshore Platforms - Load and Resistance Factor Design-First Edition; Errata - October 1993; Supplement 1 - February 1997

Readily available..

RE: API RP-2A WSD

I think I read somewhere in the 21st edition that API has concluded LRFD is not suitable for Platforms... I guess the main cause was mentioned the great number of uncertainties involved in the design...
So -happily for me- WSD is going to be used for decades to come!
