Is there any place to find the load tables for the Bethlehem Steel Kalmantruss open webbed steel joists?  These seem to be proprietary items and may not be covered by the SJI load tables.

If you are still looking for info, I have a "Carnegie Pocket Companion" from 1934 with load tables for Kalmantruss Joists manufactured by Kalman Steel Corporation.

JKW05,

If you do, what would be really cool is if you could somehow send a copy of this to SlideRuleEra who has a separate website that compliments Eng-Tips.  His site is here:

http://www.slideruleera.net/

It has his email address on it.  If you send a copy, he can post it and then in the future, we can reference out to it for those who need it.  This sort of older reference material is helpful if available and SlideRule does a good job of offering that type of info.

JAE,

The book has 524 pages, but I e-mailed a .pdf of the pages that deal with open-web joists as suggested.

Thanks for the tip; I didn't know that site existed.

The Steel Joist Institute may also have info on old steel joist types and manufacturers.  In the past, I have sent sketches and/or photographs of existing joists to them to try to determine a manufacturer.

RE: Bethlehem Open Webbed Steel Joists

JKW05 - I have been away for a while, opened your Email today and will get the tables posted soon.

Turns out I have a copy of the 1934 CPC, also - have it on my agenda to scan and post the entire book, but that will take a while.

RE: Bethlehem Open Webbed Steel Joists

Have posted JKW05's information on older open web joists on my "Contributions By Others" page. Many thanks to JKW05.
