Usually 316 is testing NaCl. The best bet might be an electrochemical test.

This test can be used for general evaluation of SS material (To find out whether the material is properly heat treated (Solution annealed).
If you are interested in corrosion rates in a given servece you may want to try Practice B, C, D.
Practice A is Microscopic exam. This is a rapid check method. This can also be used to eveluate the health of SS 316L.
But Practice "A" should not be used for rejection (Can be used only for acceptnce).
If one observes ditch structure one shuld then choose other appropriate test methods (Say A 262 Pr E) for further evaluation.
