mechanism
(OP)
I'm trying to use the mechanism function in the assembly mode of Pro/E 2001. Every time that I attempt to use the DRAG function, the assembly explodes. All of the parts and subassemblies are fully constained and highlight as ground objects(with the exception of the moving item of course), however they end up floating in space upon DRAG fucntion usage. What am I doing wrong?

As Cyril indicated, it is possible to combine a sub-asse with a general assembly...a sub-asse can be treated as single part..be sure that all your parts are constrained in a logical pattern to each other. an example, a hing is made of two parts, one side is attached to the wall and the other to a door...the first part of the hing should be constrained to the wall(in your case the ground) and the door should be constrained to the other part of the hing...a pin connection should be assigned to the hing attached to the door...when you drag the door, it'll drag the hing attached to it while the wall and the other part of the hing will be static...(the wall and the static part of the hing can be assembled in a sub-assembly and treated as one part in the general assembly)...
This is a simple example, I hope I Helped you more than I confused you...
