WALLER METHOD

WALLER METHOD

WALLER METHOD

(OP)
Hi all, Does anyone know where I can find information regarding the 'Waller Method' or the 'Pagan method' for approximating detention storage requirements? One of the municipalities we do work for references the method in there SW design specs for small sites < 5acres. I have asked around here to no avail. I wanted to compare it to the TR-55 method. Thanks in advance for any responses.

RE: WALLER METHOD

notsocivil,

I'm not familiar with either method, but Pagan may refer to a consulting engineer from New Jersey, USA with the last name of Pagan who writes articles for a magazine called Civil Engineering News.  He used to write a lot about storm drainage issues.  Google the magazine and you can find his contact information.

RE: WALLER METHOD

Not sure what the Waller Method is, just keep in mind that for most cases it is adequate to detain about 75% of the rainfall for the 10-yr,1-hr duration.
Don't go crazy with computer modeling because the IDF correlations are just exrapolations of very limited rain gage data.
