# Applying pressure equation on pipe external surface

## Applying pressure equation on pipe external surface

(OP)
Greetings!

Need help for applying non-uniform pressure distribution on a pipe outer surface.  It seems that I have to use the advanced load method in FEMAP 9.1, but I am not sure how to do it.

Pipe geometry:
A thin-walled pipe (Dia=4', thickness=1").  It is externally pressurized with non-uniform characteristic. and the pressure function is given.  This solid pipe is made of rubber.

### RE: Applying pressure equation on pipe external surface

I tried this function with equations, and it works for me, I tried aply pressure on horizontal pipe and It works, so maybe I can help you.
In the equation line put the equation for example 2*(!x-1000)
remember the symbol "!" before the coordinates. This X,y or z is used as the coordinate system chosed in the load menu.
When you back to the load menu, you have to put sth as the value of the pressure, I have just put 1 there.

If you have problems, just ask :)
