v5r6 software, v5r4 web based learning program

I am trying to learn CatiaV5R6 using the Web based learning software V5R4.

I can't open up layers in the view menu.  The layer option is not there.

I was trying to use the sketcher work modes and I could not open the tools menu with all the necessary options, Grip/Snap, Std Construction, Value Field, Auto constraints, Auto dims, section view.

I do have section view at the bottom of my screen and a tools menu but it has different programs in it.

Also, I can't find any of the properties programs like dimensions.  Properties is usually greyed out when I try to open it from the edit menu.

I have studied all the options carefully but this stuff is not there.  I do have a few options under sketcher like grid size.

Can someone tell me how to turn this stuff on, please.

Thanks so much for your time here.  I'm new to this software.
