304 SS properties

304 SS properties

(OP)
I have several references that I can use to look up the effect of elevated temperatures on the yield strength and modulus of elasticity of 304 stainless steel.  Can anyone tell me what effect higher temperatures have on the tensile strength?  I would assume that they would drop as well, but I have no idea how quickly.  In particular I would like to know the tensile strength of 304 ss at 212 deg. F.  Thanks for any help you can give.

MIL-HDBK-5J has the following:

Figure 2.7.1.1.1(b). Effect of temperature on the tensile ultimate strength (Ftu) of AISI 301, 302, 304, 304L, 321, and 347 annealed stainless steel.

Manufacturers like AK Steel also have good information available from their website:

RE: 304 SS properties

There is no reason to worry about 212F.  The variations in properties will be greater than the strenght loss at 212F.
