ISO/DIN like Specs online?

ISO/DIN like Specs online?

(OP)
I am looking for a good design reference for metric stuff (socket head cap screws, button head screws) without paying $150 / screw spec.  I don't need the detailed specs yet, just a reference to even see what will fit in my 3D models.  Once I settle on a design, I don't mind paying the money for the spec, and I'm not trying to undermine the professional organizations, but until I have a good feeling for the design, I don't want to chase my tail spending $1000s of dollars on specs.  There's some info on McMaster, but these usually have a limited selection (limited lengths/etc.).  Thanks for any advice.

RE: ISO/DIN like Specs online?

Some great references that are used where i work is:

ISO Standards Handbook - Fasteners and screw threads

3 parts in 2 volumes. This handbook gathers together more than 150 International Standards relating to fasteners and screw threads. Standards for terminology, nomenclature and other general reference standards, such as those for technical drawings for screw threads and threaded parts are included in volume 1. The second volume contains product standards for fasteners such as bolts, screws, nuts, washers, pins and rivets.

http://www.iso.org/iso/en/prods-services/otherpubs/Handbooks.PublicationList?CLASSIFICATION=HANDBOOKS#090204
Vol 1 CHF 298,00
Vol 2 CHF 224,00

I work for a european based company, so this is what i use the most.  I use this handbook everytime i am working with a application that requires a new fastener.

If you are more familure with the NAFTA based standards:

Title: Metric Fastener Standards, 3rd Edition
Author: Industrial Fasteners Institute
Publisher: Industrial Fasteners Institute,

http://www.industrial-fasteners.org/publications.php?cat=1
Price (US and Canada): $140.00

The IFI also publish a Inch version.
Inch Fastener Standards, 7th Edition
Price (US and Canada): $345.00

I see i am a little late in posting a reply, but i hope my reply helps someone who needs a reference book of this sort.
