I am looking for the Yield Strength for A229. I have looked all over and I cant find anything that I can use. Can someone PLEASE send me in the right direction!!! I dont need the Yield in shear. That does not help.

RE: Yeild Strength for ASTM A-229

If you really need it, then get US$28 and purchase the standard from ASTM International at:

RE: Yeild Strength for ASTM A-229

FYI, this standard specifies the tensile strength as a function of the wire diameter.  Smaller diameters have higher requirements.

RE: Yeild Strength for ASTM A-229

1. Buy a copy of the spec.
2. There are no yield strengths for spring wire, only tensiles.
These are high strength grades with very little ductility.  This material is not required to have a tensile elongation, but it must pass a wrap test.
Spring design works to a percentage of the UTS based on the desired fatigue life.
