Flow calculations regarding vacuum system 1

I have been tasked to generate a shipboard central vacuuming system proposal. I have come up with piping arrangements and have vendor specifications regarding their vacuum units, however I am looking for technical literature/guidance in calculating flow losses in a vacuum system. I would appreciate direction in this subject.

Although your system has a pressure less than atmospheric, the principles of pressure loss and its calcullation are the same as a "pressurized" system. You need to calculate the line velocities and line fluid densities, calculate the velocity head and multiply be the "k" factor for the piping in question.

HL = k(VH)

Depending on your units, the headloss (in the US) is typically expressed first in feet of line fluid, then converted to PSI or inches of water, mercury, etc.
