Density Testing in a Hydrate
Density Testing in a Hydrate
(OP)
Folks...
A general interest question came up the other day in conversation. What would be the effects related to nuclear density testing (i.e. Troxler) in a stockpile of a hydrate material (for example, gypsum). I would imagine that the hydrate nature of the material would impact the density results.

RE: Density Testing in a Hydrate
I am not sure what the effect on the Density Reading would be other than probably a high wet weight. My dealings with gypsum and some recycled concrete aggregates have required many samples taken for laboratory drying. Remember, the drying temperature is only slightly higher than a hot summer day.
