Inspection Report forms?

Inspection Report forms?

Inspection Report forms?

(OP)
I'm looking for ways of streamlining our Inspection Reports. Right now all Q.A. does is take all the data from the drawing (dim's, notes..etc.) and re-enters all this information onto a Word document (basically a dummy form). Can anyone recommend any software for this process or have an Excel Spreadsheet that can do this?

Thanks!

RE: Inspection Report forms?

If you can link excel to your CAD file this would be possible, however some form of coding in the CAD package would be required to pull out the required data. The other problem is notes on drawing explaining tolerances is a whole other issue,(finish marks, hardness, finish).

Building the orginal form will probably fall onto the QA person unless you can offload it to the drafters. Automating this process I believe is impossible due to human decision making on what dimensions to check.

RE: Inspection Report forms?

I would recommend MS ACCESS database.
Start off with the standard notes and add as required.
Have a REPORT developed that will use a drop down menu to select the notes. If a note is not there, add it and continue.
It's manual, but fairly quick.
I'm sure there must be a way to automate this, but as already stated, drawing notes differ from drawing to drawing.

RE: Inspection Report forms?

I have a database I used when performing 3rd party inspection on fabricated ductork and SCR modules. The database is setup

customers >> Projects >> POs >> PO Items >> Inspections > Followup Action etc.

This may be something other than you are looking for at http://www.weldinginspectionsvcs.com/qcdatabasedow... . I never really refined this for others to use easily. Its been viewed a over 1000 times but only a few inquiries.

If this wets your whistle for something in access I could throw something together. I am currently unemployed due to a broken ankle so I have some free time.

Have a good day
