Dear all,

I put this question in the valve forum but unfortunatly no answer as of now.So I am trying my luck here.

Is there any design standard for Grooved Body type knife gate valve(face to face,O.D,I.D)?

There are Standards for Grooved type Butterfly valve like MSS-SP67 & ASMEB16.10.But these do not apply to Knife gate valve.

There is a standard MSS-SP81 FOR FLANGED OR LUG TYPE KNIFE GATE VALVE.HOWEVER NOT FOR GROOVED TYPE!

Any Answers? If I don't get a reply here then I will have to assume that there are none!!!!![SAD]

Still...Thanks for any reply in advance,[PIPE]

only a suggestion, call or go to a known mfr and ask the sales person to fax/supply information on a knife gate valve, you will find your data there. as the standard has to be on the data or go and see the valve stamping,
if no data is stamped/name plate on the vave; you are out of luck and the valve is not certified to the std you wish for.

Thanks generalblr,

But the Problem is we ourselves are manufacturers!!The point is I am on a project to develop a Grooved type knife gate valve and at present at a loss to start with what?Eventually I will arrive at a solution myself but it will take a longer time to start with this one without any ready input.I would like to know whether this particular type of valve exists?

For the Record I am familiar with a flanged or lugged type knife gate valves.

Thanks for your reply,I really do appreciate it.

Thanks canuckminer,

I saw the valve in the web-site you mentioned. At least now I know that there are similar types existing in the industry.Like you mentioned No standard given but only the Material of Construction.

I guess these are manufacured purely from the manufacturer's standard and the customer requirement only.

thanks once again,
