Apparently some policy folks with a vested interest "just" discovered a paper written by some graduate students from the People's Republic of China (aka the PRC).
Those pesky graduate students must have PhD's in marketing...and I hope they are getting paid for talking to the news agencies because the media is buzzing over their work.
Anyway, they wrote a mundane paper on graph theory with the eye catching title of "Cascade-based attack vulnerability on the US power grid." Yawn!
Read it here on-line if you wish:
Sadly, nonsense like this gets policy makers wound up in a tizzy and we poor folks who actually plan, design, build, and operate the interconnected electric power system have to deal with the results. Long sigh...
I won't even start getting into the reasons why their published work falls far short of the work's title.
