XY Data (field-output): Abaqus gives me multiple 'strain' values at a node for a single time step

Strain is an element output, so you get a value from each element attached to that node.
 
That’s right, strains are extrapolated to nodes. If you want to plot only a single value of strain at specified node using XY Data from ODB Field Output then pick a node, select Position: Unique Nodal and choose only one component of strain (for example NE11 or Max. Principal). This way Abaqus will plot time variation of only a single (averaged) value for selected node.
