Can anyone help me create ascii files of element result tables? I'm presently manually entering the commands to:

SET,NEXT % set the next load step
ETAB,REFL % refill the table
PRETAB,NAME1,NAME@,... % display the table
[File > Save As...], enter <filename.ext>

and repeat for all load steps. i tried entering the input commands in an input file, but the tables do not display unless the PRETAB command is enterred in the gui command line.

There's GOT to be a more efficient way to collect element result tables from multiple load steps.

If there are other approaches, such as obtaining ascii files containing all results data that i can mine with matlab, i'm all ears...

thanks!

Put the following into a text file and read in using FILE --> Read input as... (this would be after you've entered /post1):

! -------------------------------------------------
! MACRO TO PORT ETABLE TO OUTPUT FILE
! FROM EACH RESULTS SET
! -------------------------------------------------

filename1='etable1
filename2='etable2'
etc...
etc...

SET,1 % set the next load step
ETAB,REFL % the table
/output,filename1,out
PRETAB,NAME1,NAME@,... % display the table
/out

SET,2 % set the next load step
ETAB,REFL % the table
/output,filename2,out
PRETAB,NAME1,NAME@,... % display the table
/out

etc etc.

Remember to fill the etable once before issuing the refill command.

Cheers,
