I've been working on some models at the micron (µm) scale with the part template set up in micron units. I cannot get the loft function to work, presumably because that's beyond some error threshold. Loft works fine at 1000x up in the macro world. Is there some setting I'm missing or will I have to scale up?

There is a newer (2008?) feature boundary surface that would probably give better results. There is no way to set the tolerance of a model in SW. Your workaround of scaling the model is probably your best bet. I hope this helps.

Tried it again last week, same result. At 10x (.0004) it works, but the loft is unstable and sometimes still returns an error. At 100x (.004) it's stable and no errors. Good thing that this is a representative item and not a working model, I started from a simpler model done at that scale.

Anyone have other tips/observations about working at micron scale?

Have you contacted your VAR or SW? This may be a limitation or glitch they may not be aware of or they may have a fix for.

We're not on maintenance.
Don't get me started about our VAR.. 14 months ago they sent us our renewal notice which we promptly cut a P.O. for. They called a few days later stating they made a mistake and that the renewal date was actually in August. We canned the purchase order. When August came around, they told us we were past due and would need to reinstate our licenses. To their credit, they offered to waive the penalties in November till 12/31/08, but we have no budget for luxuries such as software maintenance after our September reductions. WAS our VAR. We will switch when there is budget for renewal.

I have submitted multiple files to my VAR and they have gotten to Corporate. They were showing that a mirrored loft was not symmetric, and fills are unstable with rebuilds. All those parts were sub millimeter.
