Wood shearwall limitations 2

I think that there is a limitation on the number of stories of CMU or concrete masonry that a wood shear wall can support laterally, and I believe it is one story, but I cannot find any reference in either the NDS or IBC.

I heard it is in the NDS...

I am moving on to ASCE7...

Anyone know where that limitation might be stated?

Are you looking for ASCE 7 Table 12.2-1, but I guess that is just height limitations and not stories.

I am looking for the code limitation stipulating that wood shear walls can only resist the lateral load one story of CMU or concrete masonry walls under seismic conditions.

I have a condition of an addition over two stories of masonry where I am considering using interior wood shear walls in lieu of the 1946 CMU masonry. It would be really hard, if not impossible to upgrade to a special masonry wall in this area (Seismic D).

One option is to leave the two CMU stories and the other is to remove the top story of CMU to become code compliant for the wood shear walls (assuming the code restriction I am trying to locate exists).

Found it in the NDS. Now all I have to do is decipher it...

Section 4.1.5 under exceptions in the 2015 SDPWS Supplement for wind and seismic.

I may still be able to use two stories of wood shear walls at the inside of the CMU...
