Wireless network

I'm trying to help my parents get out of the stone age and set up a network. They have three buildings they want to have internet acccess in. Two houses, and a metal building. The building and one house have metal roofs.

Everthing is basically a big triangle with about 200 feet between buildings.

Can I get a good wireless router to reach all areas? What is the best way to get things connected? I read about repeaters and uni-directional anntena. Can I get a signal amplifier.

I think I need to turn this over to the experts for some advice. Thanks.

Ouch. I have been told many times "No sweat!". But in the several cases I've attempted, it's been problematic.

Is this out in the sticks? Are there a lot of other houses around and RF in the environment?

Yes, its out in the sticks. East Texas... There isn't much RF around. Cell signals are weak, etc.

I think I'm going to buy a wirless router and just test to see how far it reaches as a first attempt...

If you aren't bleedin penny's go for it.

There is a Linksys repeater I have had marginal sucksess with. Make sure you check it out first so that you pick a router that it will pass-thru. (It's a box with a single antenna sticking out of it.) If you can't find it let me know.

There is the sure bet of using small Yagi antennas that will project the signal miles. You should also research that briefly so you get a usable router for that scheme if deemed necessary. (Connectors are the usual problem.)

If you use the aforementioned repeater you might be able to put the router in the house. Then the repeater in the next closer building to help reach the farthest building. Work up high keep them all on the same level.
