Hey everyone, I've read thru the faq etc but I was just wondering if anyone is running any thing PCIE from the Wildcat realiam family? If so, what do you think? I'm tossed up b/t one of those cards and the Nvidia.... thoughts ....

I haven't used 3DLabs products, but they are supposed to be very good. However 3DLabs is supposedly pulling out of the higher end 3D graphics card market.

So personally I would stay with nVidia.

I prefer nvidia. I have had minor bugs with 3DLab's.

I would take the Nvidia card over 3DLabs. I've used the VP-880 Pro with no real problems.

"3Dlabs will transition from the shrinking professional workstation graphics market to focus on portable handheld devices which require intensive media processing for video, audio and increasingly powerful 3D graphics. This will result in a workforce reduction of approximately 100 3Dlabs employees"

This a quote from their press release. If you're considering spending money in one of their MCAD video cards....I would consider this a warning. They might not be around for the support you need. I would buy a NVidia product.

Never argue with an idiot. They'll bring you down to their level and beat you with experience every time.

Definately go Nvidia....

I ran a Wildcat Realizm 100 AGP a while back, besides it being one of the physically longest card's ive ever owned, it ran SW without issue, never had issues with any anomailes. Last I heard 3Dlabs is a sinking ship as a company...

If the FX 3500 fits in your budget you will not be sorry, SW performance is for a large factor dependant on graphics card memory speed and the FX 1500 & FX 3500 are king in that area. That and the bonus of knowing there will still be new drivers in 2 years and the good resale value (you might want to upgrade in the future) would make nVida the best choice for me.

Thanks for all the input, I think I will be going Nvidia, I just have to decide on a model. I'm not sure that we'll be going for the FX 3500 but probably the FX 1500 will be a go.
